Gore is best known for its waterproof Gore-Tex and windproof Windstopper fabrics but its Alp X Thermo jersey doesn't use either and is a superb cool-weather piece. The medium weight fabric feels smooth against the skin and is elastic so it's extremely comfortable even with its snug cut. The Alp X is perfect when worn alone on a mild paced 65-degree day stroll and even maintained perfect warmth on faster-paced rides in the mid 50s when worn with a lightweight undershirt. The sleeves are extra long and go all the way to the gloves offering full coverage. Its full length zip allows for easy temperature regulation and it's a high quality smooth operating zipper with a snag free flap underneath that allows easy one-handed operation. Storage is plentiful with five pockets: one narrow center pocket for a small pump, two rear pockets with side security zips and two more small ones on the sides that are perfectly located and sized for access with lightweight winter gloves one would likely wear with this jersey. The zipped pockets feature an outer water resistant fabric that's great for protecting sensitive electronic devices but we'd like to see an inner layer as well to keep sweat at bay. A reflective front logo and back panels add nighttime visibility. After multiple washes all its seams are intact and the jersey still looks like new. It's easy to find medium weight jerseys but it's tough to find ones as well rounded as the Alp X Thermo.
