The SLR has been a racer's staple for years. While the off-road-specific version remains light and narrow, this year it gains a bit more padding as well as Kevlar corners so that your wallet doesn't take a $180 hit when you crash. The Lorica cover has an anti-slip center section and is formed over a 30 percent carbon shell. There's even a 155mm-wide model for the ladies (the standard XC is 131mm wide).—Michael Frank
