As a new rider, I've crash-tested two helmets thus far. My first one was a cheap discount store helmet, and I thankfully had only a minor fall. I came out ok, but the helmet took the brunt of the fall and I felt it move around my head. I went to my LBS and after trying on a variety of helmets, they recommended this one based on fit (Specialized's size small was the smallest adult helmet they had). Three weeks later I took a hard fall into a tree, and this helmet did it's job very, very well. So well, in fact, that I replaced it with the exact same helmet. It fits well (love the internal adjustment), has cushy pads, keeps my head cool even in the So Cal summer heat, and does not interfere with my vision. Five stars!!!
